The Pen is mightier than the Sword
...unless you're actually in a sword fight. 'Coz you'd want a Sword in that case

Due to the recent success of the Queensland 1 Metre Petition, we are excited to announce that we have now launched the Federal 1 Metre Minimum Safe Passing Distance e-Petition.
We wish to thank the Queensland Government for recommending since November 2010 that drivers now give cyclists a minimum one metres' clearance when overtaking, we need our politicians to commit to making this recommendation law.
Until recently the Federal Government has been unable to accept Petitions electronically. The Senate can now accept Petitions in this format however, and it is our goal to gain at least 100,000 signatures within six months before it is tabled in the Senate next year.
Although we are aware that the FRR's are not managed by the Federal Government, we can bring pressure to bear on the National Transport Commision - a body set up by the State and Territory Governments to do their bidding.
Simply click on the link below and lend your support for safer cycling in this country. Robbie McEwen and Cadel Evans (#434 by the way) have already signed, so you know even the best riders in the world are concerned about what is happening on our roads. Please, get cracking!
It's time that Australia's cycling community said enough is enough!
